Where does your practice originate from?
My practice kind of originates from childhood. I think one of the important elements was to discover family portraits of my parents, especially my father, taken many years before I was born. Somehow, I saw them as I would never know them and photography gave me an access to the past and the past of loved ones through its surface.
What’s something that remains timeless in your eyes?
I think emotional shocks, may they be positive or negative, are timeless. Time kind of doesn’t get hold of them, it is as if the brain would remain stuck with the same emotions, feelings and body expressions through the years. As if the encapsulated shock is able to re-expand when it is activated through a person, a situation, a place. Photography kind of has the same power: re-activating the past.
