The conversation, 2021

Where do you come from?

I was born in 1985 in the 13th arrondissement of Paris in France. I studied Art at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

What kind of imagery do you like to play with?

I mostly use images I find online, within blogs for instance. I tend to pick pictures of faces, close-ups of skin or eyes, and images reflecting the youth of generation Z, with a kind of rock ’n’ roll spirit.

How do you define your artistic search and practice in three words?

Internet. Figurative. Beauty.

How do you consider your work in relation to current societal issues?

I’m concerned about the sadness felt by youth today. Looking for images online, I often come across blogs on Tumblr that contain a lot of un-happy material. I try to use some of it in order to change its meaning.

What kind of approach towards ‘aesthetics’ does your work provide?

My work transforms sadness into beauty, and that’s what it’s all about.

What does being an artist mean in your opinion today?

I am not sure, to be honest. I suppose that an artist is primarily someone who makes art.

What is the message you want to deliver with your work?

There are no messages, I just want people to feel free to make up their own interpretations. I don’t want to give out any specific messages, freedom is best.

Oh baby honey, 2021
