CHRISTOPHER ANDERSON

Name: Christopher Anderson
Age: 51
Birthplace: British Columbia, Canada
Home: Paris, France
Discipline: Photography

How did you start your practice?

I became a photographer by accident. As a career, you might say that I have lived many dierent lives: wars, presidents, fashion, art, journalism, family, etc. Some would see this as stopping one kind of photography and switching to another. I don’t see it that way. I don’t really think much about the labels that one might attach to these things.

What does your work express?

As a subject, my work has been about my experience. I want the viewer to feel what I felt in front of whatever is portrayed in my photograph.

How do you de!ne your artistic search and practice in three words?

Seems reductionist. Why not just two words? Emotion, instinct.

What is your process?

I observe. I notice things. I react and feel something about the things I notice and observe.

What is your artistic and personal commitment?

To be myself.

Wherein lies the beauty for you today?

In a conversation I had with my daughter 20 minutes ago.
