What are the main topics you deal with in your practice?

There is the nature with the feeling of foreboding, and at the same time, with the beauty as a hope. I’m trying to express absurdity, the fragility of the mind and the beauty of nature.

How do you define your artistic research in three words?

Spontaneity, rootlessness, fragility.

What images do you want to create through your work?

Composition, colour, brushstrokes - all factors of the painting can be part of the feeling I have at that moment. Apart from that, it’d be a success if the painting manages to get the light through transparent layers of pigments.

Where and how do you find poetry?

It comes mainly from my imagination or from landscapes, photos that I’m (was) familiar with (from my childhood). However, the most important thing is the communication between me and the painting. I carefully try not to miss the observation and the reaction to my process and the works, which allows me to find an emotional space. I try not to be caught up in ideas and imagination while painting.

In your view, what does being an artist mean in today’s world?

Artists have to get rid of the ego for the sake of expression. Viewers also need to do the same when they look at artworks. The egos hide something important that we possess. Art has the ability to make you realize that.
