Where does your practice originate from?
Everything originates from my own personal family history. Specific stories that are passed down and often poorly translated. The work always exists as a re-interpretation of generational stories, where previously dis-empowered figures are recentered as protagonists who reclaim the family history as their own mythology. On a physical level, the practice originates from graphite, trinkets and swaths of lace and fabric that somehow fall into my life.
What’s something that remains timeless in your eyes?
Being gay.
How do you define your artistic research in three words?
Curio cabinet archives.
What are you dreaming about these days?
I dream about fights that usually aren't resolved by the time I wake up.
Where do you find beauty?
Resting, swimming alone, playing pretend, piling onto couches with friends, finding a trinket, breaking something and cobbling it back together, my cat eating with her paws, touching foreheads with my dog while she's asleep.
